This is the first post, the inaugural post, post emiritus, genesis post… I’ll stop now. The first post presents a huge opportunity to procrastinate. I mean, it’s the first post right? It’s got to be perfect. It’s got to be epic. If I wait on epic inspiration, I’ll be waiting until the end of time. In favor of epic, I’m going with get the freakin’ first post done approach.

Seth Godin (I’m a huge fan girl) talks a lot about shipping. To ship means get it out the door, make things happen, create results that folks want, start a business, act.  Seth says:

Every time you raise your hand, send an email, launch a product or make a suggestion, you’re exposing yourself to criticism….the negative consequences that come with wasting money, annoying someone in power or making a fool of yourself.

Scary stuff, especially that last bit about making a fool of yourself.

It’s official. I’m in business. I’m launching a Virtual COO (chief operating officer) service for technology based firms. Specifically: I do a great job of running companies

Hi Elana,

I like to write history! and being the first person to post a comment in your inaugural post will be memorable… at least my first blog comment was much celebrated in my case.

I enjoy when people launch their new businesses, it is such an exhilarating moment, I congratulate you for it. I am also a fan of Pam Slim and that is how I learned of your site.

You are taking the virtual assistant concept one step ahead… it is a very intriguing and bold proposition. I like the can do attitude that you transmit. I wish for you the best in your adventure!

Just Action!

Javier

Woo hoo! You go girl! And, just for the record, I think your first post *was* epic. I almost wish I was a technology company…! Anyway, I got here via a Twitter link from Tina Forsyth, so figured I’d say “hey” while I was here. Love the site. Love the copy. Love the concept. New business is exciting! Wish you luck.

Many congratulation on your new enterprise Elana … and every success.

I’m with Laurie … I wish my business was in the tech field. Maybe you could eventually lead a network of virtual COO’s who worked for different target markets.

You could become the virtual COO Empress!!

I know all about the fear and excitement of launching a new blog and business. I launched mine last Friday and am loving it all.

Isn’t it wonderful how all the mad mountain of details become a pleasure when you run your own business.

I look forward to reading your future posts.

Good Fortune.

Hey Liz,

You hit the nail on the head – fear and excitement!
I think there might be a viable model in that network of COO’s.

Hi Zachary,

Thanks for stopping by.
I love the feel of your site and the soda pop analogy. I love it when I see a good mix of old school feel woven into the digital world.

Saw your story in Pam’s latest blog post, so I came here to check out your website. I am blown away! Love the concept, but mostly – love how fierce you are! Your about page is absolutely magnetic, powerful, and ass-kickingly awesome. I LOVE all the “give a damns”, and although I’m not a business owner – your services are extremely well communicated and sound like an absolute must for any company.

Congrats on launching your website and business! You are an inspiration 🙂
